Arithmetic
Classical students advance more quickly than many other students. As we strive to keep students interested and challenged, Saxon math provides an excellent basis for both higher math and logic within our system.
Saxon publishers designed a math programme that produces confident students who are able to compute and apply concepts to new situations.
Through “incremental development and continual review,” also known as cognitive development, students grasp one facet of a concept before we introduce a new one. Students then practice both facets until we introduce the next concept, and so on.
Arts/Music
It is important at the grammar level for children to learn how to sing well on pitch. They also learn the grammar of music, which consists of four parts: melody, rhythm, harmony, and timbre. As we teach music history, our students also gain exposure to excellent music.
While it may be true that great writers and artists have exceptional talent, we believe everyone has the capability to write well and draw well. Classical education helps students develop an appreciation for fine art. This requires exposure to masterpieces of painting, sculpture, drawing, architecture, and other visual works.
Bible
We communicate that the Bible is our authority in all matters of life. We seek to cultivate a love for the Bible as God’s Word, as well as a heartfelt response of trust and obedience to God. We relate science to God's order and magnitude. We use the Bible as a framework to understand the world around us.
Geography
Grammar
Grammar, the science of language usage, teaches how to speak and write the [English] language correctly. The Shurley English Grammar curriculum includes fun songs as teaching exercises.
Shurley English is a unique and innovative English programme that has been carefully designed and developed to meet students' educational needs in English by using the four branches of grammar: motivation, retention, transfer, and reinforcement.
Teachers present the concepts in a logical, learning order, and offer a step-by-step method for teaching concepts that reaches the visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning styles of students.
Enough repetition ensures the mastery of each concept taught.
History
History is the organizing outline of classical education. Children learn about all of humanity from prehistory and the ancients to the moderns. They get to see life’s progression in science, religion, and other subjects and witness how these subjects impact them today.
Latin
We include Latin (Greek and/or Hebrew) in our classical curriculum. The discipline and construct of these ancient languages give our students a great foundation for other subject matter, improve their mental capacities for later study, and make learning vocabulary and other languages easier.
Literature
Students will critique the classics such as Homer’s The Iliad and The Odyssey, analyzing why they have withstood the test of time. We value the literary works of Shakespeare, Tennyson, Longfellow, Elliot, Dickens, Chaucer, and Shelley. These authors also inspired our present day poets and writers. As a Bahamian school, we must pay tribute to our writers such as Susan J. Wallace, Michael Pintard, and Patricia Glinton-Meicholas.
Physical Education
In addition to having a strong mind, we want our children to be physically fit, much like our Bahamian athletes such as Sir Durwood Knowles, Pauline Davis-Thompson, Debbie Ferguson-Mckenzie, Eldece Clark-Lewis, and Christopher Brown. These athletes built endurance and discipline and fostered teamwork.
Jesus tells us in Mark 12:30, "And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment." This is what our school aims to do in its development of classical education in the Bahamas.
Rhetoric
Oratory is the art of speaking in public effectively and eloquently. Hence, speech and drama are entities that will enrich the Grammar stages of enunciation, recitation, and its related areas.
Science
We relate science to God's order and magnitude. In Grammar school, Sir Isaac Newton and his colleagues made available to us great discoveries of the western civilisation. As a result, we emphasize observation and discovery at our institution.

Age-Specific K–12 Learning
In applying the Trivium, classical Christian schools use a child’s God-given strength at each stage of growth to help them learn.
Christ-Centered Curriculum
Classical Christian schools teach all subjects based on the principle that God is the Creator of all that exists, and therefore all knowledge points back to Him.
We apply Biblical standards of conduct in all arenas of school life, acknowledging that Jesus Christ is Lord of all.
We acknowledge that God has given parents the responsibility to educate their children. Our school instructs those students under the parent's delegated authority.
Most graduates remain faithful to Christ and Christ-like values and have a heart to serve others, even through college.
Time-Tested Method and Content
Classical Christian schools use the Trivium method of training the mind. This involves teaching the grammar of all subjects as well as logic and rhetoric as subjects.
Students learn that every subject consists of certain defining facts; they learn how to organise facts and how facts relate to one another. They also learn how to present acquired facts or information in a concise and persuasive way.
This method of instruction has been in use for hundreds of years, and it produced most of history's great thinkers. It is the new "old-way" of educating students, with a long history of success.
Graduates are familiar with reading, writing, Latin, logic, math, science, rhetoric, and the fine arts, resulting in gracious, knowledgeable, and thoughtful men and women.
Academically Rigorous
Students are capable of achieving much more than is commonly thought, and classical Christian schools have high expectations for student learning.
Students learn to love the subjects that their teachers love, and they cheerfully follow the godly example of their instructors.
Students with a classical Christian education experience the personal satisfaction that is inherent in mastering a difficult task.
Nurturing Community
A classical Christian school is a community of parents and teachers who share a commitment for teaching children to love learning and to grow in godliness.
Smaller class sizes ensure that teachers know students and are better able to serve them individually. Students know we love them – they are not just a face in the crowd. They show a deep appreciation and respect for their parents and teachers.
Trivium
The Trivium approach is a proven approach to education. This classical system of Grammar, Logic, and Rhetoric has stood the test of time, and we believe it’s the best way for students to learn.
Bible in Every Subject
We do not present lessons as a group of isolated subjects. Instead, we teach all subjects in relation to one another. Our students grow and advance as they see correlations and patterns, such as how the Bible corresponds to astronomy or how science impacts literature.
The “Old” New Way
Although classical education is an old concept, we teach modern subject matter with the threefold, in-depth Trivium method. There are more than 200 schools in the Association of Classical and Christian Schools. Thousands of parents worldwide have returned to this classical teaching method, with astounding results. It is an absolutely beautiful experience to see the classical student progress through the various stages of the Trivium!
