Rhetoric

Rhetoric is the science of verbal and written expression. This final stage covers ninth through twelfth grades. During this time in their education, students practice problem-solving and public speaking. By graduation, successful Rhetoric students are ready to enter the world of adulthood with confidence and charisma. This is the crown jewel of classical education resulting in a poised, mature, critically thinking young man or woman with adult-level articulation that is beautiful, compelling, and convincing in manner.

What to Expect at the Rhetoric Stage

From Learning to Relaying

High schoolers want to talk, so we teach them how to present their ideas persuasively in the Rhetoric Stage. In Rhetoric, the scholar learns how to research and relay or articulate the facts. Students go beyond the memorization and logical sequencing of information to presentation.

Career Readiness

The classical school graduate knows what he or she believes and why and leaves school equipped to positively impact the community around him/her. Rhetoric emphasizes expression and abstract thinking and corresponds to the high school grades. The use of the trivium results in students gaining the tools of learning so they can go on learning for themselves. They also learn how to think and not merely what to think.
